Did you know that City Manager Brenton Lewis received a secret new contract?

In a closed meeting, City Manager Brenton Lewis' contract was amended, prematurely, to:

• extend term an additional 3 years making a total of 4.5 years.

• extend severance from 6 months to 4.5 years plus benefits or remainder of contract which would be a minimum of 3 years.

• Salary is $92,700 plus cost of living raises - "at least".

• Contract renews automatically every year to maintain at least a 3 year term.

The contract was not available in the city council packet. As required by law, the amended contract extension was announced at a public meeting but the severance extension was NOT - so citizens were not aware and probably council as well.

How much severance do you get? The last LlanoWatch citizen appraisal submitted would suggest that he be put on probation and surely not given a raise, extension, or 3+ years severence.
