Did you know that
Llano is an Elective Dictatorship and the Llano Citizens' Bill of Rights
is the answer?
Assertion: The
Llano City Government is an Elective Dictatorship and the Llano Citizens' Bill of Rights
is the answer.
In 1976 Lord Hailsham
described the British system of government as an
‘elective
dictatorship’. What he meant was that the government, once elected,
is able to behave like a dictator owing to the weakness of Parliament.
Judge Napolitano brings that phrase to the US, claiming our federal
government is an elective dictatorship, as articulately proven in his new
book Suicide Pact.
I would like to extrapolate that to our Llano
Government and assert that our small city's government is an elective
dictatorship. I will prove that by looking at the actual actions by
current and past Mayor/City Manager leadership and willing councils.
The citizen abuses in the table below on the left are
derived from LlanoWatch articles on abuses by Mayor Reagor's and Mayor
Virdell's governments. These abuses demonstrate that our elected
government takes our rights and spends our tax money capriciously
without our input or even the input of those we elect to restore our
rights. This is an elective dictatorship.
We need the
Llano Citizens’ Bill of Rights to take back our rights. We can't
depend on campaign promises for we have all seen those vanish. We must
embody these rights in a city ordinance.
The elective dictatorship will be the
legacy of Mayor Reagor and Mayor Virdell.
Let's hope we can find a mayoral candidate and council members that
will make their legacies the
Llano Citizens’ Bill of Rights.
LlanoWatch will provide more detail in the coming weeks.
